Cork Art and Design

Cork Craft Month August 2010 is a celebration of the amazing abundance and variety of high quality craft produced in Cork County and City. Crafts people working individually or alongside other arts organizations present a diverse range of high quality craft activities. Through exhibitions, workshops and seminars craftspeople come together to showcase their work and promote their art for the month of August. Discover locally crafted products to delight the senses with the functional, the decorative and the wearable.
The Arts & Crafts Trail is a great way to explore Cork’s diverse beauty and visit its talented artists and artisans in their own place and includes:

• An Open Studio Trail with 25 artists’ studios, across Cork County. Trail members are Potters, Silversmiths, Sculptors, Furniture makers, Glass and Textile Artists and many more.
• Displays and exhibitions in 21 key craft retailers, including Kilkenny Design and Shanagarry Design centre
• The Events Calendar includes exhibitions, interactive workshops, fairs and demonstrations at 34 individual crafts events across the county
• Key exhibitions at Blarney Castle, Ballymaloe House, Cork City Gaol and The Old Mill, Kinsale.

Cork Craft Month Launch: A substantial exhibition of the best in crafts from Cork County, organised by Cork Art and Design, will be shown in The Old Mill, Guardwell, Kinsale. This is an exceptional brand-new 3000 sq ft exhibition venue in the centre of Kinsale. The exhibition will be open to the public from 26th July and will host the formal launch of Cork Craft Month on August 3rd.

The Craft Month is organised by Cork Art and Design (an organisation representing over 200 craftspeople in Cork County) with help from the South and West Cork County and Cork City Enterprise Boards, Cork County Council and the Crafts Council of Ireland.
